LANAP Melbourne, in conjunction with Kew Periodontics and Dental Implants, is proudly the first and only practice in Melbourne and Victoria to utilise the genuine LAPIP® protocol for laser gum surgery.

Dr Allison Dean has completed comprehensive training of the LAPIP® protocol across multiple visits to Los Angeles (USA).  This now avails the most technologically advanced laser gum treatment to her patients.

Laser Surgery for Dental Implants and the LAPIP® protocol

The LAPIP® protocol is a laser-based treatment for peri-implantitis, a disease which involves inflammation of the gums and loss of bone around your dental implant(s).

Symptoms of moderate-advanced peri-implantitis may include:

  • Swelling in the gums
  • Implant mobility
  • Bleeding gums
  • Change in gum colour surrounding the implant
  • High gum sensitivity
  • Implant exposure (gum recession prevents adherence to the implant or crown surface)
  • Mild to severe pain around the implant site
  • Excretion of pus from the implant’s surrounding tissue

peri-implantitis laser treatment

LAPIP is a relatively painless procedure with most patients experiencing little to no discomfort.  Depending on your individual pain tolerance, you can expect to return to work the day after your procedure.

The LAPIP® protocol can only be performed with the PerioLase® MVP-7; a laser that attacks the bacteria that contribute to gum disease, while leaving healthy tissue intact.

As part of your examination and treatment planning, Dr Dean can discuss the appropriateness of laser gum treatment for you.
